The origin of modern Chinese
This year, an ancient human skull fossil dating from 80,000 to 100,000 years ago was unearthed in Lingjing, Xuchang, Henan, and was named “Xuchang People.” The excavation of the “Xuchang people” skull fills the gap in the evolution of ancient Chinese humans, and provides strong evidence for the “multi-regional origin theory” and the local origin of modern Chinese.

Digital Arts NFT
An NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, which can be sold and traded. The NFT can be associated with a particular digital or physical asset (such as artworks) and a license to use the asset for a specified purpose. Unlike Bitcoin, NFTs are not mutually interchangeable, hence not fungible. While all bitcoins are equal, each NFT may represent a different underlying asset and thus have a different value.

A medieval 26-sided Dice
Over the exhibition corner in Song Wong Toi MTR Station displaying artifacts during Song-Yuan period, there is a teeny-tiny exhibit always overlooked. This is a six-sided dice with each side either one dot or four dots engraved. In ancient China, dice as a tool for gambling game was widely used as in Liubo, a board game being popular during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period.

The Archaeological Heritage Park
In Hong Kong, there are Wetland Park, Marine Parks and even a Global Geopark recognized by the United Nations. By the way, Hong Kong also needs an Archaeological Heritage Park, when the city’s mission to become a world-renowned cultural exchange hub is to be fulfilled. Among declared monuments of archaeological significance, I would recommend either Song Wong Toi or Wun Yiu Kiln Site the most favorable choice for the location of the future Archaeological Heritage Park” that is qualified to be called “the national one”.

Most of the so-called “Five Discoveries” were found in early twentieth century, in the wake of the time when explorers in the West had grappled with the fall of the Qing dynasty. Then archaeological discoveries in Yinxu, Northwest China formed the basis of archaeology studies from a cultural-historical orientation.

Wun Yiu Kiln Site in Tai Po
Wun Yiu is the only blue and white porcelain production kiln site discovered in Hong Kong. Represented by its “unique history” of porcelain firing, as scholars has considered since the 1950s, the site was declared by the Antiquities and Monuments Office as monument in 1983. Large-scale archaeological excavations were carried out at this site in 1995 and 1999 respectively. What remained in situ covers the entire porcelain production process from mining to kiln firing.
